The Northwestern Medicine Garden is a spacious, 2-acre growing space located behind 2475 Bethany Road in Sycamore. Since 2012, the site has been used as a food pantry garden, giving away thousands of pounds to neighbors each year.
Hospital staff and community members volunteer in these gardens to produce an average of 4,000 pounds of produce each year.

U of I Extension Master Gardeners partner with Rooted For Good and Valley West Hospital to tend 20 raised beds on hospital grounds. This site also hosts other organizations such as Open Door Rehabilitation Center, Fox Valley Older Adult Services, and Fox Valley YMCA.

The prairie is a beautiful area where people can connect with nature. Restoring this area to its native state nourishes the soil, keeps our water clean, and provides habitat to native creatures great and small.

School Gardens
DeKalb students get a hands-on education in where their food comes from through Rooted For Good’s Garden in the Classroom experiences. Gardens on site at each of DeKalb’s elementary and middle schools help supply our food pantries.
